How to Prep Your Car for Spring

Spring Cleaning Your Car

Spring is finally here in Mississippi. During this time of year, many of us like to air out our houses and get rid of some junk. While you are doing some spring cleaning in your house, don’t forget to prep your car for spring, too.

Wash Your Car

We might not get much snow here, but winter still leaves a mark. Give your car a thorough wash, starting from the top down. If you did any driving in the snow, be sure to get the undercarriage so there is no lingering road salt reside eating away at your car.

Inspect Your Tires

After washing your car, look over all four of your tires. Check for signs of uneven tread wear and measure the tread depth in multiple places. You should also check the air pressure and fill each tire to the manufacturer’s recommended level.

Replace Your Blades

Every six to 12 months, you should get a new set of windshield wipers blades. A fresh set of wipers is an inexpensive way to make sure you can still see clearly out of your window when it starts to rain.

Routine Maintenance

Check your owner’s manual for the recommended maintenance schedule. If you have fallen behind on oil changes, tire rotations, or anything else, get your car back on track.
